What is SRS?

  • Student Residential Satisfaction (SRS) refers to the assessment of students' overall contentment and fulfillment with their residential living arrangements.
  • It is a multidimensional concept with six (6) aspects that fall into two (2) subcategories.

    1) Physical factors, which include students' living conditions, community facilities and services, and the look of their neighborhood;

    2) Social, financial, and management factors, which include students' social activities, the cost of living, and their preferences;
  • It involves gauging students' opinions, experiences, and perceptions related to various aspects of their residential services, facilities, and overall living environment.
  • SRS aims to measure and understand the level of satisfaction or dissatisfaction among students residing in on-campus dormitories, off-campus housing, or other residential accommodations.

Importance of SRS

  • Helps students make informed decisions: SRS provides valuable information about the quality of residential services, amenities, and overall satisfaction of current and past students. This helps prospective students make informed decisions about their choice of accommodation and current students in choosing their next year's accommodation.
  • Improves the overall student experience: By collecting feedback from students, SRS can identify areas for improvement in residential services and amenities. This helps create a better student experience, leading to higher satisfaction and retention rates.
  • Ensures student safety and security: SRS can also collect data on safety and security measures in student accommodation, which helps ensure the safety and well-being of students.
  • Encourages communication between students and administrators: By conducting SRS, administrators can better understand the needs and concerns of the students, and work towards addressing them.

Benefits of SRS

  • Students: SRS empowers students to voice their opinions, identify areas for improvement, and drive positive change in residential services.
  • Residential Service Providers: SRS enables providers to understand student satisfaction levels, identify improvement opportunities, and enhance support services.
  • Institutions: SRS data helps institutions identify satisfaction patterns, assess service effectiveness, and make informed decisions for improved student residential experiences.
  • Parents and Guardians: SRS provides valuable insights into the quality of residential services, aiding informed decisions on their children's higher education choices.
  • Future Students: SRS data highlights exceptional residential services, distinguishing institutions and attracting more students or tenants.
